Richard is a consultant in the Property and Private Client team. During his more than 50 years in legal practice, Richard has gained wide experience and developed expertise in most areas of private client work but particularly in respect of the sale, purchase, development, financing and leasing of property; company matters; business transactions; and trusts, wills and estates. As the practice of law has become more specialised, Richard’s time is now concentrated on trust work (including an extensive involvement with offshore trusts including as a director of many trustee companies), wills, enduring powers of attorney, supervision of estate administration and property work, and an extensive practice as a notary. Richard has a law degree from Auckland University and has worked in Jackson Russell since 1961. He became a partner in 1966 and a consultant in 2017. He is a member of the International Bar Association and The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners based in London, and was the first New Zealand director on the World Organisation of Notaries. |
Sport has always been an interest for Richard, particularly rugby as a player and spectator, yachting (a New Zealand representative in Flying Fifteens), squash and jogging for fitness and golf which Richard still plays regularly. Spare time is spent with friends and family including three daughters and seven grandchildren.
